Dawson is here! (part one)

I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday.  I was a little busier than I first anticipated...I am probably going to do this in parts.  It depends on how well Dawson keeps sleeping.  OK, I just decided I will do these in parts.  It is taking longer than I thought and I am stinking tired :-)  This post will be up through the epidural...but here is a sneak peek at the little guy... (I did not proof this entry - so forgive the errors)

It was definitely an experience with one too many complications for my blood.  Matt took my phone away and wouldn't let me on the computer after 9 am. so that is why we are just now updating.  I'm reclining and loving my ice packs.

The day started with Matt and I still up.  He didn't get a lick of sleep and I got about 2 hours.  We headed to the hospital and got there around 6:30.  I checked in and they had me changed and had the pitocin dripping by 7 am.  I was still sitting at 2-3 dilated - WTC!  I just knew I was progressing more.

I felt fine until about 9:30.  My friend/nurse, Lindsey, came early got me all hooked up and went to her class...THANK YOU, Lindsey.  She left me in the capable hands of her momma/mentor, Lisa. She is WONDERFUL!  Thank you, Lisa!  She made me feel right at home and in good hands.  Lisa came in and upped my piotcin drip five times and that is when I started feeling some of the contractions.  I started getting quiet...it was funny.  Well, now it was.  I was chatty cathy until the contractions hit and then I was just concentrating when one hit.  I think I got a little irritable.  lol.  I know I did.

At about 10 am I asked for something to take the edge off.  I hadn't seen the doc yet so I couldn't get an epidural yet...he was due in at around noon on his lunch break!  UGH!  lol.  I was not happy.  Lisa gave me Stadol and WHOA.  It knocked me on my boo-tay.  I slept really well for about two hours and it took me the rest of the day to get out of my loopy state.  It was GREAT to help me sleep but dang, I had a hard time focusing and not trying to sleep the rest of the day.

So, the nurses told me that my doc would be around on his lunch (at this point I have not seen him).  I slept until he got there and was really groggy when he got there.  He checked me and I was at a 4 and was about 80% effaced so he broke my water at this point.  He asked me when I wanted the epidural and I said NOW and he said OK.  I got my epidural pretty immediately after that.  But first...

YUCK YUCK YUCK, him breaking my water.  OK, that was disgusting.  I was soaked...when doing the epidural it ran everywhere...ugh ugh ugh.  I kept complaining...it is running down my legs!  YUCK.  I think I had a little more fluid than normal because of the gestational diabetes.

Lisa what an amazing and blesed journey. May God keep his hand over you, Matt and Dawson as you move into the next phase of parenthood. You are truly blessed to have family and friends to share in each milestone. Prepare for the ride of your life. Dawson is beautiful just like his mom and dad. Hugs. . . . .

Once they tried breaking my water with Owen before he was ready. That is still the worst pain I have ever felt in my life! Be sure in your birth story to share his APGAR's and everything. Don't leave out a detail! Like I said before, I feel like I just finished a really good book and am DYING to read the sequal!

LISA-
It probably seems surreal right now but once you get that little guy home and are able to introduce him to your other babies it will finally be your dream come true!!!!

hahahahah!
I remember when my water broke... it felt like I had a water balloon between my legs and a HUGE rush of water! Definitely not a pleasant feeling. I didn't get an epidural, so I'm so thankful you did!
