It's official...

I officially have Gestational Diabetes.  Ugh.  I can tell you one thing, my ODDS with ANYTHING pregnancy related are GRAND!  I need to buy lottery tickets!  I am always in the SMALL minority of things not going normally.  Gee.

I went in today at 7:30 am for my follow up glucose test...and had my "Breakfast of Champions"...see below...

The Lab Lady checked my level and it was at 63...she said it needed to be under 95 so we were doing good.  I thought...OK, looking decent.  After my hour wait in the waiting room (and almost snoring...it was PAINFUL sitting there)...I went back in for my finger pricking.  My level needed to be under 180 and it was 190.  Lab Lady said I needed to pass the next one AND the next one to actually pass...but if I flunked the next one then I had gestational diabetes.  So, the wait continued...

Hour two ended and I went in and my level should have been under 155...it was 203.  BINGO!  DING DING DING YOU WIN!  Ugh.  At least I didn't have to stay for the third hour.

I was told that a dietitian from the hospital that I will be delivering at will call me within a week (possibly).  I am little miffed...so I called the clinic and requested someone call me back.  I am leaving for Chicago tomorrow and my question is, "what the crap do I need to do in the meantime!"  Hopefully the nurse who calls me back will give me specific instructions...

All I know is that I have an increased risk of a BIG baby (especially if I am measuring 2.5 weeks further along!); that I have an increased chance of a c-section (due to a big baby); AND, increased risk of delivering early.  I moved up my family shower from Oct. 2nd to Sept 19th JUST IN CASE.  Ugh.

As soon as I get my official marching orders and directions on WHAT I should eat, etc, I will start the stuff immediately and do my best to get this under control.  Dawson is priority #1.  I just need some direction.
