18 weeks...

Wednesday is one of my favorite days of the week now.  I can claim another week on the pregnancy chart and one day closer to having our little miracle.  This week marks Week 18!  Here's what is going on (from babycenter.com):

How your baby's growing:

Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

One of my pregnancy notifiers says the baby (all stretched out) is about 10 inches!!!  TEN INCHES!  That amazes me!  I try to picture the little tyke all balled up in my belly.  I grabbed my little doppler last night and found the heart beat.  I am getting better about finding it.  The heart rate was again 138 bpm.  I just sat and listened.  It is the most amazing sound of ALL times.  It is about two times as fast as my heart rate so you have to make sure the heart beat you pick up is actually the baby's.

Tomorrow is the big day.  I will definitely post as soon as I can. I am getting excited now and my earlier hesitation about finding out the gender is all but gone.  I HAVE TO KNOW!

I have had some major pelvic pain.  I feel like I have pulled all my groin muscles.  I read today that that is totally normal and everything is stretching, moving, growing, shifting and any other adjective you can imagine.  Thank goodness!

I think I felt the baby officially move this morning.  It was a quick little flutter and then it was gone.  I try to stay real still and not even breathe so I can concentrate on my uterus area.  LOL. But, flutters or bubbling feelings come so fast and before you can say..."that was the baby!!!" you think..."was that really the baby?  it was way too quick!"

I haven't thanked all of you guys enough for sharing this journey with us.  Even though I cannot imagine a better feeling and experience than the one I am having now...knowing I have so many people pulling for us and cheering for us and praying for us and genuinely excited for us...well, it has made this journey all the more richer.  I love you all so much.  This little one is truly blessed to have so many people love HIM or HER.
