14 Weeks...

I still cannot believe I am pregnant.  I know, I know.  After so many years of trying and wishing and hoping and praying...reality seems a little too unrealistic for me.  I am 14 weeks and one day now.  My pooch is growing a bit.  I look in the mirror and turn to the side and just marvel at the fact that the belly IS IN FACT growing!  I am in maternity clothes now all the time.  I put on a pair of work out shorts last night to sleep in and the band was too tight across my abdomen!  I am like ???...then I am like :-) :-) :-).

Here is what is going on with the baby at 14 weeks from the

How your baby's growing:

This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.

In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

I usually listen to Glenn Beck and talk radio, etc; however, I am fully aware that the baby can hear (especially in my car because I usually have it turned up way too loud).  So, I have been trying to keep it on K-Love, etc.  :-)  I know, I know, weird.

I have had a few people tell me, "You should already be out of the morning sickness stage!!!"  WELL, I WISH!  Do you think I am making this up?  Do you think I gag myself?  I think NOT.  Nothing in my quest to get pregnant has been why should my symptoms follow the rules?  I wish they would, but they aren't, and I am looking at it all in a positive light.  Thank GOD for symptoms.

I haven't tried the doppler again.  I need to see if I can find the heartbeat...that would be so dang cool.

I think your baby needs to listen to Glenn Beck! Maybe he will be President and fix all this crap! Baby Brown in 2047!

I've found there's not much sense in saying "should" about anything in pregnancy!! People forget that what is considered "normal" (aka, being done with m/s at 13 weeks) is just an average. I know people who never got sick, were sick the entire 40 weeks, who didn't get sick UNTIL the 2nd runs the gamut. Good for you for embracing the puke! :o)
