Doctor's orders...NO STRESS!

Yeah right. My dad had a heart attack yesterday. Acute Myocardial Infarction. He is still in ICU tonight but stable and doing OK. Thank you for your prayers. We need a NO damage report from the doctor.

My dad is a heavy smoker. He has smoked 45+ years. He is diabetic, has high blood pressure, and has the beginning stages of emphysema. He is defiant and challenges God on many occasions about dying. He also has a compression fracture in his spine. He is in constant pain. He hasn't felt good in years.

He has had 15+ stents put in but his last work up was decently clear. This was a very sudden change of events. Mom "just so happened" to be at home when dad's chest pains began. It happened so quickly and the doctors said that he would have died if mom hadn't got him to the hospital when she did.

Anyway, no stress, right? I am one year older than my mom was when she lost her dad to cancer. I was seven and my brother was almost 11. I at least got to know my grandpa (the best man in the whole wide world). I am not ready for anything to happen to dad just yet...or ever.

He has got to quit smoking so I pulled out the "grandbaby" card. "Dad, you know you can't smoke around the baby?" "Dad, mom and I have begged you to quit...if you won't do it for us, do it for the grandbaby because we are not doing this without you". Wow, that was GOLD! He told mom today he was going to quit :-) yee haw.

I have several other stress "factors" in my life that are very overwhelming...and I am to have no STRESS. I believe Satan is trying to stress me out and try to stop what God is trying to do. Please keep praying for my dad! I need him around for all this stuff!

Your dad and my dad sound so much alike. I guess that's because they are friends, huh? The health problems are similar except for the heart attacks. Dad has struggled for years as you know with empheysema and has to have his oxygen machine on at night and during day. I feel so sorry for him because he has struggled so much with all his problems and can't enjoy retirement. So, I know what you are going through. God is trying to wake them up. We have to pray harder, and I will be praying for you and the procedure and your hormones. I pray for perfect peace for you.
